A New Roof for Southease Church

Five years ago,  we were told that the ancient Church of Southease needed to be re-roofed.  Over the following 4 years the Village worked hard to raise the money, but it would not have been possible if we had not managed to secure a grant from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, through their Listed Places of Worship scheme.  A grant equal to 70% of the total cost was obtained.  This enabled us to re-roof the Nave, the Chancel and the Porch, to treat all the timber against woodworm, to fit, repair and repaint gutters and to complete the Lightning Conductor to secure the Church.   The Church through the PCC, and the Village are deeply appreciative of the huge financial help afforded by the Listed Places of Worship scheme and it’s officers for without them, we could not have done it.  The work was completed on 29th November 2017.
